Babies, Babies Everywhere!

Libby, MT - The end of February and beginning of March 2018 have had the Obstetrics Department at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center hustling and bustling! The week of February 26 brought the excitement of 4 babies born in just 12 hours in the birthing suites. That excitement was heightened when just one week later the Medical Center welcomed 3 more babies in a 4 hour time period!

"This was quite a team effort," stated Kimberlee Rebo, RN, BSN, Manager of Acute Care and Obstetrics. "There wasn't a person in the building that didn't step up to assist the team to help make things run smoothly. We had folks that stayed late to deliver babies, folks that worked diligently to get our patients adequate pain control, and an untold number who worked behind the scenes to help clean and restock the rooms as quickly as we used them."

Two baby boys and two baby girls were welcomed in the first group. On February 28th, the first baby girl was born at 9:56 pm and delivered by Dr. Jana Hall. On March 1, at 2:34 am another baby girl was welcomed by Dr. Brian Bell. Also on March 1, the first baby boy of the series was welcomed by Dr. Hall @ 7:43 am, and finally at 9:03am the second baby boy was delivered by Dr. Bell.

The second rush began on March 5th with three more babies, all delivered by Dr. Brian Bell. At 9:23am on the 5th the team welcomed a baby boy. On March 6th at 12:13am a baby girl was born, and followed very quickly by another baby boy at 1:07am.

Dr. Brian Bell, OB/GYN with Cabinet Peaks OB/GYN who delivered 5 of the 7 babies, is proud of the teamwork shown during this extraordinary event. "It is a great testament to the ability of the OB team here at Cabinet Peaks to provide excellent care even under duress. It was an honor to be a part of that!"

Kate Stephens, Marketing Manager at Cabinet Peaks was also delighted about the event. "The birth of a new baby is one of the happiest occurrences in the day to day life of a medical center, but when they come in bunches, it brings an extra level of joy & excitement into the facility!"
After delivering at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, families are gifted with an assortment of goodies, including: an "I was born at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center" onsie; a hand stitched baby blanket, created by the CPMC Auxiliary; and a baby hat, knitted by local volunteers. The families are also provided a free newborn baby photo of their little one to mark the memorable occasion.
