>CPMC Passes with Flying Colors!

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center (CPMC) is proud to announce that it has successfully passed a surprise state license inspection with zero deficiencies in April 2023. Within a week of passing the state inspection, the Life Safety Survey also took place, and CPMC received glowing reviews once again.

“This month, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) conducted a comprehensive survey of our hospital, and the results were outstanding! Cabinet Peaks Medical Center received ZERO deficiencies. Only ten percent of hospitals in the country perform at this level. This superb performance demonstrates, definitively, that Cabinet Peaks Medical Center provides high-quality, safe healthcare to the residents of Lincoln County. These results can only be accomplished through the efforts of our committed staff and providers who provide excellent patient care for our community. I couldn’t be prouder of them,” said Tadd Greenfield, CEO of CPMC.

During the exit interview, the state surveyor expressed satisfaction with the findings at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, highlighting the outstanding organization of the facility and its team. The surveyor commented that every rule had not only been met but had exceeded expectations.

On behalf of the federal government, state auditors can show up unannounced at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center once every three years. “We never know when the survey is going to happen,” added Greenfield. “Therefore, we must always operate at a very high level in anticipation of such a visit.” He noted that while the inspectors are at CPMC, they check for outdated medications, compliance with EMTALA laws and other federal rules and regulations, and conformity to medical center rules, policies, and board governance bylaws.
While the state survey focusses on rules and regulations, the Life Safety Inspection focuses on patient and visitor safety. They check all fire equipment, exits, electrical, safety and security, and confirm our emergency preparedness. CPMC passed without any K-tags, willful violations, and zero citations, serious offense. The inspector noted that Tony Rebo, Plant Ops Manager, and Safety Security Officer, provides vast experience in codes and regulations.

“Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is consistently taking steps to ensure our community is invested in their local hospital. Passing this inspection with no deficiencies is just another way for us to demonstrate to the people of Lincoln County our commitment to provide quality healthcare at CPMC - and that we do so in a manner that both abides by necessary regulations and shows our patients we care about them as individuals,” Greenfield added.

The successful completion of these inspections reflects CPMC's dedication to providing excellent healthcare services while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. The staff and management of CPMC are proud of this achievement and remain committed to providing exceptional care to their community.
