CPMC Now Providing the Latest in Bone Health
Cabinet Peaks Medical Center has expanded its health and wellness services available to men and women with the addition of the Horizon DXA system from Hologic. The imaging technology of the Horizon DXA system provides superb image quality with advanced diagnostic tools to support early detection and treatment of osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is a growing healthcare crisis affecting millions of women and men worldwide It is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much bone, makes too little bone, or both. As a result, bones become weak and may break from a fall or, in serious cases, from minor bumps or bruises. 77% of American women with osteoporosis are undiagnosed (and therefore untreated).
Fortunately, osteoporosis is detectable and treatable and testing is safe and non-invasive. DXA enables new dimensions in care and generates the crisp, clear, high-resolution images you need to accurately assess bone denstiy. The National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) recommend BMD (bone mineral density) testing with DXA for:
• Women age 65 years or older and men age 70 years or older
• Men and postmenopausal women ages 50-69 years, based on risk factor profile
• Men and postmenopausal women age 50 years or older who have had an adult-age fracture
Experience comfort, fast exam times, and low x-ray dose examinations.
